GAZA STRIP: Palestinian officials say at least 60 people were killed in Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip overnight into Tuesday, as Israel intensified its military campaign to dismantle Hamas and rescue remaining hostages.

The strikes targeted multiple areas, including family homes and shelters. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, 22 civilians were killed in two attacks on a home and a school shelter in northern Gaza. In central Gaza, 13 people were killed in Deir al-Balah, while 15 died in a strike on the Nussirat refugee camp, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. Another 10 were reportedly killed in Khan Yunis in the south, Nasser Hospital said.

There has been no official comment from the Israeli military, which claims it targets only militants and blames Hamas for civilian casualties due to its operations in densely populated areas.

The offensive comes as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu allowed limited humanitarian aid into Gaza for the first time in over two months, amid international pressure over growing famine fears. But UN agencies warn that the few trucks allowed in fall drastically short of the need — far below the 600 trucks that entered daily during earlier ceasefires.

The war erupted after Hamas launched a deadly assault on southern Israel, killing around 1,200 people and abducting 251. Israel says 58 hostages remain, with about a third believed to still be alive. In response, Israel’s campaign has devastated Gaza, with the Health Ministry reporting over 53,000 Palestinians killed — mostly women and children — and nearly 90% of the population displaced, many multiple times.
